Description
A hearty beef stew with tender meat and rich flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1½ pounds beef stew meat or sirloin tips, cut into bite size pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional for garnish)
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the beef pieces and brown them on all sides (this helps build flavor).
- Add chopped onion and cook for about 3 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir gently to combine.
- Reduce heat to medium low. Cover and let the beef simmer for about 30 minutes (this helps the meat become tender).
- Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth. Slowly stir it into the skillet (stir slowly to avoid lumps).
- Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Stir in butter for a richer flavor.
- Sprinkle fresh parsley on top and serve warm.
Notes
- You can use flour instead of cornstarch for thickening.
- Mushrooms can be added for extra flavor.
- Low sodium broth works well if you prefer less salt.
