Description

A hearty beef stew with tender meat and rich flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds beef stew meat or sirloin tips, cut into bite size pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the beef pieces and brown them on all sides (this helps build flavor).
  2. Add chopped onion and cook for about 3 minutes until soft. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Reduce heat to medium low. Cover and let the beef simmer for about 30 minutes (this helps the meat become tender).
  5. Mix cornstarch and water in a small bowl until smooth. Slowly stir it into the skillet (stir slowly to avoid lumps).
  6. Cook for another 3 to 5 minutes until the gravy thickens. Stir in butter for a richer flavor.
  7. Sprinkle fresh parsley on top and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use flour instead of cornstarch for thickening.
  • Mushrooms can be added for extra flavor.
  • Low sodium broth works well if you prefer less salt.
