Description

Delicious cinnamon twists made from flaky puff pastry, perfect for a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry (thawed)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (divided)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon (divided)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. Unfold 2 thawed sheets of puff pastry onto a lightly floured surface. Use a rolling pin to even out the creases and gently roll out the puff pastry.
  3. Pour half of the butter onto each of the puff pastry sheets and spread evenly using an offset spatula or a pastry brush. Sprinkle each sheet with half of the sugar and half of the cinnamon.
  4. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife to cut into 3/4″ wide strips. Twist each puff pastry strip and place onto a parchment lined baking sheet.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water. Use a pastry brush to lightly egg wash the puff pastry.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until puffed and lightly golden brown.
  7. Meanwhile, combine the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Stir until combined and smooth, then set aside until ready to use.
  8. Once baked, remove the cinnamon twists from the oven. Allow them to cool slightly before drizzling with icing and serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed before starting to make it easier to work with.
  • This recipe can be halved or doubled according to your needs.
  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon mixture.
